URL Redirect is a powerful feature that allows you to automatically redirect multiple posts containing specific keywords to a designated webpage. You can filter posts by publication date and set up scheduled redirects based on post age, making it perfect for managing expired content, seasonal promotions, or directing traffic from older posts to updated resources.

Understanding URL Redirects

Purpose: Automatically redirect visitors from old or specific posts to a target destination URL.

Common Use Cases:

  1. Manage Expired Content:
  • Redirect old product reviews to current product pages
  • Send traffic from discontinued product posts to replacements
  • Guide visitors from outdated guides to updated versions
  1. Seasonal Campaigns:
  • Redirect last year’s holiday posts to current year promotions
  • Send expired sale announcements to active offers
  • Update seasonal content links automatically
  1. Content Consolidation:
  • Redirect multiple old posts to one comprehensive guide
  • Merge duplicate content by redirecting to canonical version
  • Combine related posts into ultimate resources
  1. SEO Management:
  • Preserve link equity from older content
  • Redirect aged posts before removing them
  • Maintain search traffic while updating content strategy
  1. Expired Offers:
  • Redirect old coupon/discount posts to current deals
  • Update affiliate links by redirecting old product posts
  • Manage time-sensitive promotions automatically

Key Feature: Scheduled Redirects The “Schedule After” function lets you set redirects to activate X days after publication, enabling automatic management of aging content without manual intervention.

Navigate to Content Manipulation → URL Redirect to access redirect management.

Keyword Filtering

Keyword to search in posts:

  • Enter keyword(s) to identify posts for redirection
  • System searches post titles and content
  • Can use multiple keywords separated by pipes: keyword1|keyword2|keyword3

Example keywords:

  • “2024 holiday sale”
  • “coupon code|promo code|discount code”
  • “review|comparison”

Note: Posts must contain the specified keyword(s) to be eligible for redirection.

Keyword to Exclude (if available):

  • Specify keywords that disqualify posts
  • Posts containing exclude keywords won’t be redirected
  • Useful for filtering out exceptions

Example: Redirect all “2024 sale” posts EXCEPT those containing “still valid”

Date Range Filtering

Articles Before:

  • Date picker to select cutoff date
  • Only posts published before this date are redirected
  • Format: dd/mm/yyyy

Example Use Cases:

  • Select “01/01/2025” to redirect all 2024 and earlier content
  • Select “06/01/2024” to redirect posts from first half of 2024 only

Strategy: Combine with Schedule After to create time-based redirect strategies

Campaign Documentation

Description:

  • Text area for internal notes
  • Document campaign purpose and strategy
  • Example: “Redirecting all 2024 Black Friday posts to 2025 Black Friday landing page after they’re 365 days old”

Step 2: Redirect Configuration

Redirect Destination

Redirect URL (Required):

  • Enter the full destination URL where posts will redirect
  • Must include https:// or http:// protocol
  • Invalid format will trigger an error

Examples:

  • www.example.com/page (missing protocol)
  • example.com/page (missing protocol)

Best Practices:

  • Test destination URL works before saving
  • Use clean, permanent URLs (avoid tracking parameters if possible)
  • Consider using branded short links for tracking
  • Ensure destination provides value to visitors

Schedule After – The Key Feature

Schedule After (in days):

  • Number of days after post publication before redirect activates
  • This is what makes URL Redirect powerful for automatic content management

How It Works:

Post published: June 27, 2024 Schedule After: 5 days Redirect activates: July 2, 2024

Example Scenarios:

Scenario 1: Seasonal Content Management

  • Schedule After: 365 days
  • Effect: Posts redirect one year after publication
  • Use: Redirect last year’s holiday content to current year

Scenario 2: Short-Term Promotions

  • Schedule After: 30 days
  • Effect: Redirect one month after publication
  • Use: Expired 30-day offers redirect to current promotions

Scenario 3: Fresh Content Focus

  • Schedule After: 90 days
  • Effect: Redirect after 3 months
  • Use: Push traffic from older posts to evergreen content

Scenario 4: Immediate Redirect

  • Schedule After: 0 days
  • Effect: Redirect immediately upon campaign creation
  • Use: Emergency redirects, instant content consolidation

Strategy Tips:

  • Long timelines (365+ days): Seasonal campaigns, annual updates
  • Medium timelines (90-180 days): Product lifecycle management
  • Short timelines (30-60 days): Promotional content, time-sensitive offers
  • Immediate (0 days): Content consolidation, emergency changes

Step 3: Target Selection

After configuring basic settings, select which posts to redirect:

Search and Filter Categories

Search Category:

  • Search box to find specific categories/subdomains by name
  • Type category name to filter list
  • Helps quickly locate target categories in large networks

Filter categories by tags:

  • Search box to filter categories that have specific tags
  • Shows only categories tagged with search term
  • Example: Search “seasonal” to see only seasonally-tagged categories

Select Category from which URLs have been generated:

  • List box showing all matching categories/subdomains
  • Multiple selection available (Ctrl+Click or Cmd+Click)
  • Shows available categories based on search filters

Example: Select “Aerospace,” “Amazon,” “Beverage” categories to redirect posts from these subdomains

Number indicator (e.g., “10 categories selected”) shows selection count

Filter Articles by Tags

Filter articles by tags:

  • Search box to narrow posts by tag
  • Enter tag name to filter
  • “Select tags to filter articles by” placeholder text

Use case: If posts are tagged with “2024-holiday,” search that tag to find only holiday posts

Search Posts Button:

  • Click after setting all filters
  • System searches for posts matching:
    • Selected categories
    • Keyword criteria
    • Date range
    • Tag filters (if used)
  • Matching posts appear in selection list below

Post Selection

After clicking Search Posts, a list of matching posts appears.

Select specific posts:

  • Checkbox for each post
  • Select all matching posts or choose individually
  • Ctrl+Click (Windows) or Cmd+Click (Mac) for multiple selection

Post information typically shown:

  • Post title
  • Publication date
  • Category/subdomain
  • Current status

Important: Only selected posts will be redirected. Unselected posts remain accessible normally even if they match the criteria.

Step 4: Save and Activate

After configuring all settings and selecting posts:

  1. Review all configuration details:
    • URL Title
    • Keyword filters
    • Date range
    • Redirect URL format (includes https://)
    • Schedule After days
    • Selected categories and posts
  2. Click Generate URL Redirect button

The campaign saves and activates immediately. Redirects will apply based on the Schedule After setting.

Understanding Redirect Activation

How redirects activate:

  1. Campaign created today: December 26, 2025
  2. Schedule After: 10 days
  3. Post published: December 20, 2025

Calculation:

  • Post publication: Dec 20, 2025
  • Add 10 days: Dec 30, 2025
  • Redirect activates: Dec 30, 2025

Before Dec 30: Post accessible normally After Dec 30: Post redirects to target URL

For multiple posts in one campaign:

  • Each post calculates independently
  • Older posts redirect first
  • Newer posts redirect later
  • Creates rolling redirect schedule

Example Campaign Timeline:

100 posts selected, Schedule After: 30 days

  • Post from Nov 1 → Redirects Dec 1
  • Post from Nov 15 → Redirects Dec 15
  • Post from Dec 1 → Redirects Dec 31
  • Post from Dec 26 → Redirects Jan 25

All posts eventually redirect, but on their individual schedules.

Verifying Redirects

Testing redirect functionality:

Step 1: Check Dashboard

Navigate to URL Redirect dashboard:

  • Find your campaign in the table
  • Check Total URLs column shows correct post count
  • Click the number in Total URLs to see affected posts

Step 2: Visit Redirect Post

  1. Click post URL from the list
  2. Browser should immediately redirect to target URL
  3. URL bar changes to destination URL

Example from documentation:

  • Post initially loads normally
  • After redirect activation, visiting post URL goes directly to YouTube site (per example campaign)
  • Redirect happens automatically and seamlessly

Step 3: Verify Redirect Status

Check that:

  • ✓ Redirect occurs immediately (no delay)
  • ✓ Destination URL loads correctly
  • ✓ No error messages appear
  • ✓ Redirect works on multiple browsers
  • ✓ Redirect works on mobile devices

Managing Redirect Campaigns

Viewing Redirect Posts:

In the dashboard:

  1. Locate your campaign
  2. Click the number in Total URLs column
  3. List of all redirected posts appears
  4. Shows: Post title, URL, redirect destination

Editing Campaigns:

  1. Click blue Edit button for campaign
  2. Modify settings:
    • Change redirect URL
    • Adjust Schedule After days
    • Update keyword filters
    • Add/remove target posts
    • Change date range
  3. Click Generate URL Redirect to save

Important: Editing Schedule After recalculates activation dates from original publication dates, not from edit date.

Deleting Campaigns:

  1. Click red Delete button
  2. Confirm deletion
  3. All redirects immediately stop
  4. Posts become accessible normally again

What happens on deletion:

  • Redirect campaign removed
  • Posts return to normal access
  • Visitor can reach original content again
  • No content is deleted, only redirect removed

Best Practices for URL Redirects

  1. Plan Redirect Strategy Carefully

Before creating redirects:

  • Determine why redirecting (expired, consolidated, updated)
  • Ensure destination provides value to visitors
  • Consider SEO implications
  • Plan Schedule After timeline strategically
  1. Use Meaningful Keywords

Choose keywords that accurately identify target posts:

  • ✓ Specific: “2024 holiday sale”
  • ✗ Generic: “sale”
  • ✓ Distinctive: “product-xyz review”
  • ✗ Common: “review”
  1. Test Destination URLs

Before activating campaign:

  • Verify destination URL works
  • Check page loads correctly
  • Ensure content is relevant to redirected posts
  • Test on mobile and desktop
  1. Monitor Redirect Impact

After activation:

  • Check traffic to destination page increased
  • Monitor bounce rate (high = poor destination match)
  • Verify users aren’t confused
  • Track conversion if applicable
  1. Use Schedule After Strategically

Don’t redirect immediately unless necessary:

  • Older content still has value
  • Link equity benefits from age
  • Search rankings need time to transfer

Do redirect quickly for:

  • Outdated/incorrect information
  • Expired offers creating bad experience
  • Duplicate content issues
  1. Document Campaigns

Use Description field extensively:

  • When campaign was created
  • Why posts are being redirected
  • Expected duration
  • Review date
  • Success metrics
